Reccomended Jeep Cherokee Lift Kit

My favorite lift kit for the Jeep Cherokee is part number ZX071866W from JC Whitney. This is a three inch lift that includes an extra leaf for the rear spring pack and a block. It also comes with new front springs.

Click the link below and search for ZX071866W. The price is currently $120 but it varies from time to time.

I have this kit installed on my 88 XJ with 33″ tires. I had to cut the fenders a bit to fit 33’s. Jenny has the same kit on her Jeep with 31″ tires.

It is amazing that this kit comes with new front springs and an extra leaf for the rear andf blocks for the rear for just $120. Most lift springs alone cost more than this.

  1. i have owned two jeeps and have built several, my first XJ built was an ’84 with the D35 rear Non C-clip, and Hi-Pinion front D30 i ran 32 inch mud tires with a similar kit with minor fender trimming, my current cherokee is an ’88 with the Fuel Injected 4.0 (Renix EFI) i’m about to put 4 inches of lift, just like my ’84 this ’88 has the Non C-Clip D35 rear and the High Pinion D30 front with 3.73 gears, i’ve heard alot of people say that if you go much over 3 inches it causes vibration, changing the “clock” of the t-case helps with this as does having the axles shimmed, as far as blocks go, blocks are cheap, i personally dont reccommend them but i have seen people get good luck with blocks, and i’ve also seen too many broken, sounds like you’ve had quite a bit of good luck with this kit, and to anyone looking to lift an XJ, this looks like a pretty ‘rock solid’ kit for tires upto 31 inches without trimming and 32 inches with minor trimming, with good cooling the transmission will live a long happy life, but just my .02 cents, anyways i’ll stop rambling now, good luck and happy wheelin’
