Securing my fire extinguishers better.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Back when my off road Jeep was a rally racer we were required to have two easily accessible fire extinguishers mounted inside the cockpit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years off roading the original extinguishers had gotten used or lost and the brackets had gotten damaged. So my extinguisher was just rolling around and not easy to get to in an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got this bracket from Amazon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My extinguisher was just a little bigger than they planned for so I had to add on to the hose clamp to make it reach. I just used a couple of old radiator hose clamps and added to the supplied ones. I mounted this on the roll cage accessible from the hatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way the mount works allows you to pull the red knob and quickly release the extinguisher from the base. The other half of the bracket stays attached to the extinguisher. It is very secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While at Home Depot I noticed they had some nice 5 lb extinguishers on sale. So I picked up a pair. I did not like the plastic mounts so I reworked one of my old rally car mounts to work. I had to open up the neck mount just a bit as the rally extinguisher had a groove in the neck that this one does not have. The clamp fit perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
