Cleaning up the winch wiring with a power distribution block and battery disconnect.
My winch wires have been run to my battery terminals. It was pretty messy. And every time I went to disconnect the battery I had to mess with the winch and accessory wiring.
So I ordered a power block from Amazon. https://amzn.to/2IEadiL
While I was at it, I added a battery disconnect switch from an old race car project. Like this one: https://amzn.to/2VuRT0O
I also picked up some two-foot cables to make the jump from the battery to the switch and back: https://amzn.to/2VrYPvL
I mounted the switch and power block on the passenger fender. I drilled through and uses 1/4 inch bolts and nuts to secure the block. I did not like that the terminals were exposed through the large holes int eh block so I cut a piece of red plastic from a page protector and put it inside the cover.
I used self-tapping screws to secure the bracket for the disconnect switch since the backside fo that panel was not accessible.
Now I have a cleaner more secure wiring for the winch and other power accessories that were connected to the battery terminal.
