Review of the Hawk HPS 5.0 brake pads

I have been using Autozone Duralast Gold pads on my Jeeps for many years. They have always performed adequately and the lifetime replacement warranty has been great. I have not paid for pads in years.

However, the last set of pads I put on my Jeep, however, have performed less than I expected.  I don’t know if they changed the formula, or I just got a bad set. They have even been wearing faster than usual.  But the stopping power has been downright scary at times.

Isuzu Amigo CV axle reinstall


Reinstall of a CV axle in a 1990 Isuzu Amigo

Last week we removed the CV axle from Tom’s Amigo. We damaged a seal in the process and had to order one. This week we put the axle back.

We began by lifting the truck and pulling the wheel. We then removed the brake caliper at the support bracket. All the parts we temporarily put back in in order to drive the Amigo out of the shop last week.

944 Race Car No Start

Troubleshooting a no start condition on my 944 Race Car

After the race at Indy, the car has made a few short trips in and out of the trailer but that is it. In preparation for the next race, I pulled it into the shop.  When I later went to move it onto the lift, it would not start.

I first swapped the DME relay.  No start. I then replaced the DME with a jumper. No start.
